Wednesday Night saw x5.BF2 take out our 5th Consecutive Grand Final win in the GameArena 10v10 Pro Ladder. In probably our toughest season yet of BF2 in any format, it's been a long and tough 5 months.
Firs of all, we share respect with team such as predatorZ, AusFieldOps, Barbie, vRes` and Carnage, whom were all worthy opponents and scrim partners.
Whilst this hard season prepared the team for its toughest finals series ever, our team needed to focus building strats which were unique and more complex than previously used. Which was a remarkable challenge for the team.
Team eXile5 had already played vRes` this season, coming away with only 10 tickets. We learned a lot from this game and it humbled us, as it was time we put forward some serious preparation for what we were expecting to be one hell of a challenge, deciding a proper Chopper camp, and AA truck usage was critical to success. Trials of different strategies fared nicely, gaining capouts multiple times, and confirming a final strategy for the Grand Final
Barbie are an experienced team, renowned for quick movements and cunning tactics, and everyone was interested to see if Barbie could be the first team to end our run of 58 wins 0 losses in 10v10. With that in mind we aimed to use the same thing against them with quite a unique and radical rollout.
An unexpected rollout by Barbie as USA saw us with an easy cap on Main Entrance and our chopper camp on reactor successful. Seeing that only 1 infantry was needed to cap main entrance, our infantry squad focused on attacking reactor from behind once their squad pulled out, and we managed to cap it, getting the chopper up after a near miss of Barbies TOW camp, props going to Pandemic for the manoeuvre and Dodo for the execution
Cleaning up the attack on our main we reinforced our 3 flags and attempted a few capout attacks on us main. 3rd attempt saw us neutralise construction and a heavy vehicles presence at main entrance prevented their attack on that base, capping them out and quickly winning the round on the tougher PLA side 128-0, A great start for the Grand Final for us but we couldn’t get over confident.
We’ve been capped out early as USA plenty of times in pracs beforehand and we knew we had to be aware of where their jeep pushed as China. We felt the only place they could attack would be our main as attacking elsewhere heavily would waste alot of tickets.
Surprisingly Barbie had a very slow rollout on China turning their only car into a jihad to attack reactor. Prepared to kill a car coming to reactor we handled that fairly early on, got the chopper up with no camping prepared on it from Barbie and went on proceeding to attack their main with chopper support.
Barbie had capped Main entrance but couldn’t get anywhere else. We setup a lockdown of both sides of their remaining flag and had pretty much won the game by this point with Barbie not attempting the bold rollout on our main we had expected. Wanting to get the match over quickly and end the pain for barbie we snuck in a medic pair to grey their last flag while everyone else distracted their team and the spawn points.
Capout of the 2nd round occurred at 136-0 and we won the game convincingly by a massive margin of 264-0. The largest winning margin of a 10v10 Grand Final and our biggest win of the season against quality opposition.
A quick match indeed and a stunned team surprising ourselves of the result. Everyone including us expected a close one even some of us within the team expecting to lose. The practice over the last few days and lessons learnt from and since the Vres` game on Dalian helped us a great deal to understand the map that payed off big time.
Alot of practice has been put in over the last 2 months, more than we'd undertaken as a team and it's taken its toll with alot of players now taking a well earned rest. We thank those that put in the massive amount of time and effort for the finals and the teams we scrimmed with all season. Without their help we would not have gotten this far.
Team eXile5 is now changing its focus to 6v6 Season 2, with finals only one month away and are now looking into competing in GA 12v12
