just wondering what case everyone has, looking to purchase/upgrade to a new one since i had to cut my current case with some sheet-metal cutters for the gfx card to fit ha, and really just want something new.

was thinking of getting the antec nine hundred two > http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_733&products_id=8767

there is a local shop in town with them going for $230 which isnt too bad considering if i got it off the web its an additional $80 for postage

so yea what cases would you recommend? and what one do you have :D

What GFX card you trying to fit?
My 5870 kinda sorta only just fit in my Antec 1200.

gtx260, would have fit my current case, if it were around 5-10mm shorter.

I have an Antec 900 atm, I've had no problems with it and considering all the fans, it's very quiet too.:)

I got a thermaltake armor + running a 5870 with like 5 inches to spare, we all could do with a few more inches tbh =)

i'm also looking for a case as im getting a computer built at scorptec, with a HD6950 etc. i'm switching between getting the Cooler Master 922M or either the antec 900 or 1200. do you reckon it's worth getting liquid cooling for a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T?

Definitely go for the Cooler Master 922M! Great case, do recommend!

What system specs you going for dude, and how much you spending?

Also, welcome to the forums. :D

thanks 1MMort4l :) umm well i'm spending around $1,500, i only play Urt at the moment on a laptop but hopefully with a new computer i can get the required specs for some other games :D

What i have worked out so far:
CPU -AMD Phenom II X6 1090T- $275 just dropped to $249
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-870A - $139
Memory/ram - Corsair 4GB - $65
Hard disk - Seagate 500GB Barracuda - $69
Case - Cooler master 922m -$139
Video card - Gigabyte HD 6950 - $389 down to $335
PSU - Corsair micro 750hx - $209

It's getting built for me for $110
$1,306 in total there

Getting a Razer keyboard, probably lycosa and a monitor of some sort but they aren't included in the $1,500
i didn't really know much about computers until just recently so i may have got somethings wrong.

The only thing i would suggest there m8 is a SSD. Faster for gaming, no moving parts and no looking for information like a CD. CPU knows where it is and grabs it straight off the bat. I myself, like many others, have bought a small SSD for my games and operating system and use the bigger bulkier old style sata HDrive for storage. Cooler Master 922m is a big bonus as well dude, user freindly front panel, good accomodation for components, choice cooling and looks like a beast. Plus the red fans make it go faster man :)

No problem at all Pez, happy to help mate!

$330 for a 6950?? Seems expensive to me., I am selling a brand new 6870 for $100 less than that.

Anyway, here are my recommendations: I will stick with your CPU and MOBO.

CPU -AMD Phenom II X6 1090T- $275 just dropped to $249
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-870A - $139
Memory/ram - Corsair 4GB - $65
Hard disk - 500Gb WD Caviar Blue - $43 ($30 cheaper, and a better drive!)
(For the money, and depending on how many games you want to install, you could look at 2 of those drives in raid, or a 150gb WD Velociraptor for $160 for a huge performance gain.)
Case - Cooler master 922m -$139 (Good buy.)
Video card - Gigabyte HD 6950 - $389 down to $335 (If you go for a better hard drive, I say stick with this, otherwise go for a 6870 for about $70 less.)
PSU - 700W CoolerMaster eXtreme - $129 (More than enough for your needs, and IMO one of the best PSU's for the money.) Also $100 less than your original psu.

Where abouts are you dude, in Melbourne?

OCZ Vertex 2 (http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-vertex-2-sata-ii-2-5-ssd.html) drives, which have a very good controller as in the Sandforce 1200, which default will give you
Max Read: up to 285MB/s
Max Write: up to 275MB/s
Sustained Write: up to 250MB/s

Keep in mind that sandforce drives about 90% of all ssd's. I dont think it really matters if its OCZ or any of the following -
Adata, Amp Inc, Apacer, Codisk, Corsair, Digicube, Extrememory, G-Skill, GWM, Micro center, Mushkin, OCZ, OWC, Patriot, Pretec, Renice, Silicon Power, Smart Modular Technologies, Solid Data, SoligenCorp, Super Talent, Team group, Unigen, Viking and Zalman.

I myself use G-Skill and am more than satisfied and know im equal with OCZ and i beleive i paid less.

^^ They may use the same controller but thats like saying the Lotus Elise and Toyota Celica are the same cause they use a 2ZZ-GE engine.

close...

In real world yes of course your going to notice the difference between a supercharged 4 pot and a N/A 4 pot. The real world difference between SSD's with the same controller is probably only going to be the sticker...Just like Video cards, pull em apart and they are all the same except for the sticker

For ssd'z wait till the controllers harness sata 3 =)
