I think Fries is going to be doing a full write up of the day complete with pictures of the team and event, but I'll do a brief write up of each of our matches with screenshots.
MLE (Melbourne Live eSports) is an event run by Martin Mintoff (omnious) and his staff team (Tasker etc.). It is the biggest Call of Duty event in Melbourne and one of the biggest regular Call of Duty event in Australia.
All the teams arrived on time and the matches got under way around 10:30 on Sunday morning. There were 10 teams in total, split into two groups. The top two teams from each group progress to the semi-finals, with winners of semi-finals progressing to the grand final. Group stage matches were one map (set round-by-round by the event admins), while the semi-finals and grand final were Best of 3, with one team choosing the first map, the other choosing the second, and Strike being the deciding map if needed.
Group Stages Match 1 - What's Lean
Description: This team was made up mostly of MW2 players so it was over fairly quickly.
Final Score: 16-2 (eXile5's way)

Group Stages Match 2 - Mindfreak
Description: Being only the second map of the day, and the second time we had played together with the team we had on the day (consisting of two sluts), we went into this match without having the teamwork we needed to hold back Mindfreak, who were playing with their online team who have played together for quite some time. Mindfreak had their teamwork already sorted out and their coordinated flashes, nades and smokes won the match.
Final Score: 6-16 (Mindfreak's way)

Group Stages Match 3 - Repression
Description: After the disappointing loss to Mindfreak in the previous match, we sorted out some teamwork issues and knuckled down to get a solid win.
Final Score: 16-6 (eXile5's way)

Group Stages Match 4 - Keyboard Sports
Description: The winner of this final group stages match would progress on to the semi-finals, while the loser would finish 3rd in their group and be knocked out of the competition. Coming from a good win in the previous match and a much-needed lunch break, we played confidently and won comfortably.
Final Score: 16-5 (eXile5's way)

Semi-final - Unban Fiend
Description: Unban Fiend finished first in their group, beating teams like Immunity to go undefeated up until this match. Obviously they came into this match very confident, but we were on a good run of strong wins as well. After winning the knife round, we chose Backlot as our map, winning it 16-12. Unban Fiend then chose to play District, and showed that it was one of their stronger maps, taking it 16-12. With the scores at one map each, it was time for the decider map of Strike. We addressed some of the problems we saw on District and played well to progress to the grand final, winning Strike 16-6.
Final Score: 2-1 (eXile5's way)

Grand Final - Mindfreak
Description: Our last match against Mindfreak was very disappointing, but we knew why we had lost it and were not about to make the same mistakes. Mindfreak had just beaten number one seeded Team Immunity in the semi-finals (2 maps to 0) to progress to the grand final so they knew they had the potential to pull off a similar upset in the grand final. Once again, we won the knife round and chose Backlot, winning it 16-13. We were expecting Mindfreak to choose either Crossfire (after beating us on it) or District (after seeing us get beaten by Unban Fiend on it), but surprisingly they chose Crash. Although we had only played Crash once so far that day, it was one of our stronger maps and we won it 16-8.
Final Score: 2-0 (eXile5's way)

Huge thanks to the eXile5 management (especially krmnl and st3r) for taking a risk a putting in the time and money to get us down to Melbourne for this event. Without st3r, we wouldn't have had our x5 hoodies and wouldn't have been nearly as organised, and without krmnl, we wouldn't have even been able to get to Melbourne. And of course, a big thanks to Fries for all his help down at Melbourne, picking us up from the airport, driving us all over the place on Saturday night, getting us free tickets to see Inception at IMAX, driving us to the LAN and then most importantly, being there on the day and supporting the team and the event. Finally, thank you to Western Digital for supporting this trip. Wouldn't have been possible or nearly as stylish without you!
On behalf of all of us, thanks to everyone who helped make our first LAN victory as eXile5 possible.
