Thurs 6th March was the staging date for the biggest match in eXile5's BF2 history on the pure infantry map Operation Blackhawk Down (obhd). The 10v10 Grand Final against 16v16 Champions Clannasaurs Rex. creX` were no slouches coming into this with a similar record to us remaining undefeated throughout the whole season the grand final was sure to be epic.
The match lived up to hyped expectations as Australia's Best versed New Zealand’s Best in the ideal Grand Final Matchup. Previously New Zealand teams had defeated Australian teams twice in BF2 Grand Final matches, and we were aiming to not let the aussies down.
Team eXile5 went in as favourites being Grand final winners last season and having a highly skilled infantry squad but we weren’t going to get ahead of ourselves. Leadup to the match saw us having triple the amount of pracs and scrims on the map than previously we had in finals so we weren’t taking this lightly and were desperate to win. Thanks to tR/AFO and NSOF for helping us prac up for this game aswell – much appreciated.

Round 1 started out with x5 on the bleed as USA and needing to cap a flag asap while attacking an entrenched crex defending against us. Considered the easier side first we aimed for a quick cap and then work our way around to cap them out quickly to set us up for an easier 2nd round and that we did. With well timed decoy pushes and counter attacks the rollout was executed much better than expected only dropping 4 deaths when we stopped the bleed. From then on it was kill for kill until we performed the capout we were aiming for. Round ended 124-0 for eXile5.
Feeling confident going into Round 2 we knew we only had to hold em out for a few mins, we still realised that we were playing the hardest side and that its very hard to win the 2nd round. creX` started with 2x4 man squads attacking both of our flanks to try and get around us and luckily one got through for them and they managed to cap a back flag of ours. But it was too late as that push cost them dearly being smashed by our infantry hard as they tried to get around. From then on our guys backed off subconsciously knowing they won and just did their best to keep the kills going and holding their flags, but against any good team its very hard to do creX` eventually deployed a similar tactic to how we capped them out, just too late.
Round 2 ended 83-0 for creX` and lost the Grand Final 124-83.
It was a competition of the best of the best and Team eXile5 comes out on top winning its 2nd Grand Final in row back to back while remaining undefeated in over 32 ladder matches now becoming officially Australasia’s best 10v10 team.
