I got my laptop from this place... they have some very good prices for what you get, i.e. they don't put up a huge markup on their stuff so your getting value for money and the good thing is you can also customise your orders too ! for example I got them to put in a 7200 rpm hard disk into my lappy instead of the 5400 rpm one that was already in there. the only thing that was a bit dodgy is they forgot to send through the battery charger in the box which meant they had to send it separately the next day but apart from that they were very good.
with dell, your going to have to wait about a month before your paltop arrives because they always seem to be running out of batteries for their lappys... mine was supposed to arive like a week and a half since I placed the order, then they send me another e-mail saying it will come a month later due tothe same problem, and after reading up on forums and hearing other experiences everyone had the same prob :S so if you don't mind waiting then go for it, although maybe smiley might have a better experience with his one :)
well its the xps or maybe

l like both tbh :) the toshiba has a 1gb card and asus has a 2x512 cards so yeah what ya reckon peeps
my limit is $3500
lappys are hard to get bf2 running on although most other games will run fine.
i can get mine to play bf2 for about 15 mins then i get blue screend online but i can play single player for as long as i want?
i have a hp which probly isnt the best option for gaming as the gaming models are 4000 +
The toshiba qosmio x300 is a good machine, shame u cant upgrade the processor tho.
dont have much time to check out the rest & have a look around but will try over the next few days
also dell gaming laptops are pretty good because u can upgrade all the parts and customise them to suit u similar to alienware but alot cheaper.
ok still looking really but will buy by next week more then likely
Hips Dell own Alienware , and from what im hearing Dell made there XPS series to have an advantage.
yer i think the only difference is alienware write their own software and drivers and have slightly differnt parts/acessories which are ment to perform better.
havnt had a look at an alienware lappy yet so i wouldnt know how true that is.
the way you order/customise your system online is basicly identical tho.
dell also have really good support and warranty which is good for a lappy becuase alot of waranties are voided once u open them yourself.
^^ yeah thats what i was thinking
whatever you get, don't get an alienware they are soo op.
I would probly go the XPS™ M1730 for $3999 for the price it is a good machine.
Specs:
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9500 2.6Ghz
4GB2 (2GBx2) Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM
2x320GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive
17.0" UltraSharp™ Widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display
Dual 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX
Blu-ray BD Combo Drive
Intel® 4965 Wireless-N Mini-card
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy
Bluetooth Internal Module
1 yr XPS Premier Service
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
you can upgrade the processor to a 2.8ghz for an extra $580 but i wouldnt bother.
there arnt really any laptops sub $4000 as good as that.
what hippo said is right
just remember that the XPS still have centrino1 cpu's (pretty sure)
there may be plans to bring out centrino2 CPU's (more power, less battery use) some time this month, dont quote me though.
how desperate are u krim cos aparently they are goin to centrino2 to in the near future if not this month and aslong as the price stays similar it would defiantly be worth waiting.
aparently the new xps range is ment to b pro too
ok cool well see any release times and dates etc when this might be happening mate i am getting desperate i havent had a comp for 4 days ffs lol
lol, i no how u feel. i lasted about a month n went out n bought a lappy that wasnt exactly wat i wanted, wish i waited to buy a decent gaming one.
there hasnt been much released yet about the specs of the new xps series except they will have a centrino 2 bigger hard disks and most likely ddr3. grumpy if u have seen anything on them can u post up some links i wouldnt mind havin a read.
check out dell precision m6400
ok im buying the xps just thought i would ley yas know pretty hot rig ordering it tomorrow :D
when are those new centrino thingy majiggys coming out if its soon then ill wait but yeah.
they were rumored to come out in november.
i rekon itll will be soon, ud think they would try n release em before chrissy.
should see wat aron can do about gettin u one of these wit a discount.

that would have to be the best laptop out no doubt. $4200 american but they are different to the aus models so u would have to get one from ova there. the aus model isnt as powerful even if u upgrade it all which is about $7000 lol
