Exile 5 had battled hard all season to reach its 4th consecutive grand final in the GameArena 10 v 10 Pro Ladder. Oman Derailed was the map and Oleks Army (oA|) were the opponents.
Oman Derailed is a relatively new map that had been created from a modified Gulf of Oman 32 player map. Three contestable flags dot the middle of the map and each opponent team start at their uncapable base.
Round 1, x5 USMC oA| MEC. A bold rollout for oA| saw them attempt to cap headquarters flag. They punished x5’s armour to cement that cap moments later. x5’s infantry squad capped construction site then doubled back to train to get the bleed on oA|. x5’s armour squad pushed hard a couple of times to regain headquarters flag. Finally the flag was recapped by x5 when the infantry squad helped co-ordinated an attack to finally clear out the last oA| from headquarters. oA| battled hard throughout the round recapping construction site on one occasion. This recap was all to no avail as x5 maintained superior map positioning and held the ticket bleed for the entire round. Score 97 - 0.
Round 2, x5 MEC oA| USMC. x5’s rollout failed to put pressure on oA| headquarters flag cap so oA| capped both headquarters and construction site flags at the start. x5 had a solo cap on train wreck and then counter capped construction flag. With the pressure on oA| to get off the bleed, x5 decided to apply the pressure and push for the third capable flag, headquarters. Large battles ensured between train wreck and headquarters flag as oA| knew that the match was slipping away. After oA|’s tickets fell below 97 pride was at stake so more creative and sustained attacks occurred at the train wreck flag. x5 held strong to win the round 85 - 0.
